2017-2018
The Sacred Heart robotics teams had 18 members in grades 4-6 this year split on two teams.  This was our first year using the Vex Robotics program and we competed in two regional tournaments and the State competition.  At both our regional tournaments, we got first place in the head to head robot driving which is the Teamwork Champion Award.  We also received the Excellence Award at both tournaments, which is the highest honor there is.  This award is presented to a team which exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality Vex Robotics program and is a top contender for numerous awards.  At one of our regional tournaments, we received the Design Award for our engineering notebook and at another we received the Stem Research Award for our Stem projects.  We received six bids total to go to state.  At state, there were eight awards in our division.  We received three of them.  We got the STEM Research award, the Sportsmanship Award- which was voted on by the other teams and went to a team that was respectful and kind to others and the Excellence Award which again is the top honor and gave us our invitation to Worlds.  We also came in second place for Teamwork Challenge and Skills.  There are four divisions total and Southland Middle School also got this award in their division so of the top four robotics teams in the state, 50% of them are from Adams.  At Worlds, we will compete with hundreds of other kids from all over the globe.  Currently there are teams registered from China, New Zealand, Great Britain, Finland and Australia.  It is the largest robotics competition in the world and a once in a lifetime experience.
